Quamby Plains Pty Ltd

is a family owned and operated business run by the Archer Family since 1894. Quamby Plains is located 24 kms south west of Launceston in Tasmania. From the original Quamby Estate, Compton Archer was the first to form and build Quamby Plains.

We run a Poll Hereford stud of approx. 250 registered females and 150 commercial females. Emphasis is placed on economical traits of its cattle enabling the stud to keep abreast of the commercial cattle industry and the changing market specification.

We also run a Corriedale sheep stud of 450 stud ewes and 3,000 commercial ewes. Quamby Plains Corriedales produce excellent wool, low micron, have high fertility, lambing ease and high valued skins. All studs are performance recorded on lamb plan.

Quamby Plains is able to provide superior genetics to its clients throughout Australia, US and New Zealand to help them obtain maximize profitability, through a system of open communication, trust and reliability.

The Quamby Plains Stud is committed to total performance. We have been performance recording for 39 years. This form of objective measurement has enhanced predictability and accuracy in the Estimated Breeding Values of our bulls and thus helping to meet market specifications and the breeding objectives of our clients.

Corriedales

Quamby Plains Stud was founded in 1917 by Compton Archer. Now a member of the Corriedale Performance group utilizing LAMBPLAN, as well as being part of the ‘Cross Tasman Analysis’.
